I became a member of a brand new chapter of Moxie-Moms when my son, Grant, was less than a year old. I was anxious to meet moms who were as nervous about parenting as I was, and yet willing to explore the experience together. I desperately needed structure and things to do during my days! I participated and organized many events to keep my calendar busy. As I met more moms, I started using the discounts provided by Moxie-Moms as part of our weekly outings. I still love meeting new people and wanted to save more money using our partner discounts. That’s when I decided to become a Moxie-Mom Area Manager. Lucky for me, there was an opening!

I love to introduce Grant (born June 2008) to new things. Whether it’s Salsa dancing, music classes, running around at a gym, visiting animals at the zoo, seeing the Chicago city sights, or just going on a walk around the neighborhood, we try to have fun. I also love having Grant meet new people – both adults and children of different ages. In between all the busy activities, some of my favorite times are just hanging at home with Grant and my husband, Tom. I love seeing my son kiss his favorite stuffed animal, pet our cats, or just be silly (which he often is).

My mommy strategy . . .

Go with the flow and follow your own instincts. As with all moms, I love my son with all my heart and always have his best interests in mind. I’m sure I will (have) made mistakes, but who doesn’t – we’re only human after all. I try to instill in him the best of me. I will continue to encourage him to try different things, meet new people, and explore life to its fullest. We only have one life, and I want his to be incredible!

Before I was a mom . . .

Originally born in New York, I grew up and went to school in Naperville, Illinois. I attended college at Eastern Illinois University where I received a degree in Management with a concentration in Human Resources. My last position held was for 8 years as a Human Resources Manager. Our company moved oversees and I found myself without a job in the summer of 2007. I decided to take some time off and did some traveling – Europe, Mexico, Florida – when surprise! I got pregnant. I then considered losing my job a blessing and a sign that I was meant to have a child and stay home for awhile while I raised my angel.

I hope I can make our chapter of Moxie-Moms everything you want it to be; a place for new friends and great discounts. PLEASE do not hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns, or comments. I need your input to help our chapter grow. My hope is that we have something of interest in terms of events and discounts that all moms and their families can enjoy.
