Hi,
my name is Tonya. I am Area Manager for Portland's NW & SW
metro areas. Read on to find out more about me... |
Why do I do it?
For one, I believe that all moms, new or experienced, need the support and knowledge of other moms who have been there, done that. Moxie Mom events and playgroups encourage moms to connect on many different levels. Moxie moms also supports and promotes fitness and shopping discounts; what more could a mom with moxie ask for?
My grandmother (one of my heroes) was extremely involved in civic organizations and at one time was a Regional President for the American Cancer Society. She instilled her belief in making a difference in her community in both of her daughters who in turn with her help; instilled the same belief in their children. With Moxie Moms I am able to combine my organizational skills and my passion for getting out there and making a difference in the community!
My favorite activities with my kids are...
So far our giggle sessions are my favorite activity. When we are being silly he does this deep belly laugh that just makes my whole day. Other enjoyable activities include:
- Walks in the park - he looks so wide-eyed at everything and tries to engage anyone walks by or near us.
- Trips to the Oregon coast - he loves the sand!
- Saturday morning shopping at the Farmer's Market. He loves to watch the people and also enjoys all of the fresh fruit and vegetables that we bring home. He has flirted his way into many, many food samplings while at the market.
My mommy strategy . . .
I try not to sweat the small stuff and enjoy every minute that I can. I also strive for balance between being a great mommy for Connor and my other roles which include wife, daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and neighbor.
Before I was a mom . . .
I
knew happiness, but not true joy. After having Connor, I chose to return to my position as the Disbursements and Mailing Department Manager for a large Legal Services firm and each day has been a learning process for me. It no longer takes me two hours to get out of the house each morning and to me that is progress!Also, I don't think I knew the true meaning of the term "multi-tasking". Now that I am a mom, I am able to feed Connor, catch up with family and friends by email or phone and cook dinner! Thank goodness for laptops and speakerphones!
~~~~~~
I am looking forward to meeting all of you and hope that our groups will grow stronger and larger over the next year! I have some great ideas for events and partners and would, also love to have your input and feedback. Please email me with any suggestions, comments, ideas, or even complaints if you are so inclined. I want to hear what you think!
